The Best Family Hotels on Isla Mujeres

The Best Kid-Friendly Hotels on Isla Mujeres

Na Balam (luxury)

Large triples with 2 full beds are steps from the North Beach. Nice pool and great location an easy walk from Isla’s main restaurant scene. Good kid-friendly snorkeling is found under the little bridge that borders the property. Beautiful quiet beach with few partiers. There’s a small play structure beside the hotel restaurant. Free yoga classes.

Los Arcos Suites (budget)

Large suites with kitchenettes. Centrally located in the middle of Isla’s shops, restaurants, and bars. 2 blocks from the beach, 3 blocks from the ferry. In high season it can be a little noisy late into the night.

  1. Hotel for Family of 4 on Isla Mujeres

Do you have any other recommendations of where to stay on Isla Mujeres? I will be travelling with my husband and two young kids (2 and 4) and we are going in the next three weeks. Na Balam is fully booked.

The Ixchel is very nice – it doesn’t quite have the character of Na Balam but it’s got a great spot on North Beach (wonderful sand, great for kids) and is an short walk from shops and restaurants.

  2. Resort for Family of 5

HI! I have been researching all inclusive resorts for my family to go next month in April! We are a family of 5 (9,10 and 12 year girls) and an active 81 y/o nana. Snorkeling is a priority for all! We are looking into Akumal. What is the best all inclusive resorts for us? We had considered Isla Mujeres but really want jungle feel, sea turtles and swimming beach. I would be happy just sitting at beach but… Is the Grand Sirenis resort a good option? Price is good for 2 jr suites. Mixed reviews. Any other place you have been in Akumal that we should consider? Sandos Carosol worth it? Not as nice beach and rooms rundown. Any information helps. Thanks for your time.

Sandos is not in Akumal (it’s north of Playa del Carmen) but does have a water park with slides which is great for kids. The Sirenis is just north of Akumal and has a large lazy river (but no slides). If you really want to be in Akumal then the Akumal Caribe is hard to beat (though not an all inclusive). Great beach and walking distance to some shops and restaurants (many of the hotels along here do not have anything within walking distance and that can feel isolating).
