  1. Vietnam with 2 Year Old

Hi, me and my husband are thinking of traveling to Vietnam with our 2 year old daughter. Any special advice? Or even share on your opinion if it is a good idea to do it with a 2 year old. Thanks! Gaby

I think it’s great. The Vietnamese love kids so be prepared for a lot of attention. If budget allows get a hotel with a pool (easy to find in the mid-range category). Hoi An is a wonderful town with a slower pace if you find the big cities too hectic.

  2. Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh with Kids

Great site. Very helpful. We have 10 days in Vietnam on a break from Hong Kong. Most days we are going to be on a beach near Hoi An but would like to visit either HCMC or Hanoi. What would you suggest for a January visit?

I much prefer Hanoi to HCMC. The city and Old Quarter have a much more interesting feel to them. HCMC feels more like any big asian city and doesn’t have the character of Hanoi. I think Hanoi has more to do within a day trip as well (with Halong Bay being the highlight). But HCMC still has plenty to do (and the Mekong Delta is just a few hours drive away). The weather will be nicer in HCMC in January. Hanoi can be pretty chilly at that time of year.
