Read These: 10 Great Posts On Family Travel

As a newbie to the blog scene, I’ve plowed through a lot of travel posts over the last few weeks and read a lot of great articles. The title says 10, but I cheated a bit to get as many of my favorites in here.

1. Though not directly related to family travel Jane McIntosh’s great tips on saving money in Europe apply to allTravel blog reading. travelers.

2. At Ciaobambino, Catherine Forth has a pitch perfect take on Savoring the Simple Pleasures of Paris.

3. Wandermom gives a great overview of the challenges and opportunities of coordinating a Family World Trip and Schooling.

4. Lorraine covers it all in her post on the iphone app scene for family travelers.

5. Delicious Baby has this fantastic review of stops on Seattle’s new light rail line. (Also at Delicious Baby is a wonderful guest post from Kaare Revill on visiting Estonia with kids.)

6. Need some ideas for your next trip?  CGTravels has a travel bucket full of great destinations.

7. The Frugal Traveler Matt Gross has a Q&A with world travelers Jeanne Dee and her family.

8. Chris at BrilliantTrips gives The Lowdown on Travel Vaccinations.

9. I think I could have done a top ten just from the Travel Savvy Mom‘s posts. Instead I’ll restrict myself to their features on audiobooks, exploring the heel of Italy, and the new Wellness Bra. I have no idea if this last post is any good, but as My Little Nomads is run by a father, it sorely lacks in bra support coverage so I’m throwing this into the pile. In a similar for-moms-only vein, the otherwise composed and thoughtful matron at Dim Sum, Bagels, and Crawfish sounds like she’s losing it.

10. Penelope Trunk’s article on happiness isn’t specifically a travel post. Well, it’s not a travel post at all. But it touches upon a lot of ideas that relate to travel. Is travel about valuing happiness or choice? Are you an optimizer? Answer’s here.

Love your list, but I have a hunch it will eat up a good chunk of my morning as I click through and daydream/laugh/ponder when really I should be dealing with the scary mound of laundry. Thanks for including me in the round-up even with my female centered post!

  2. I’m so glad you enjoyed my posts! Thanks for the mention.

You know it’s a good post when you digress and read more blog posts than you thought you would on that journey through your blog reader. Thanks for the mention, and for the ‘interesting’ link to Penelope Trunk.

Congratulations on your new site! I’ll look forward to following it; it’s nice to have a dad’s perspective on travelling with kids. Thanks for including my Heel of Italy post. Our sons seem to be about the age as yours, so I can guarantee Salento would be an enjoyable holiday for your boys as well. Happy travels.
